The Chart

Every lesson was learned by a man who went first.

Sailors once charted the sea’s depths, measured in fathoms, so that those who came after could navigate safely. The Chart is our version: the best practices for leading men, each one credited to the man who found it.

Soundings taken: none yet · The founding table goes first

Where it stands today

The Chart does not have entries yet. It begins with the founding table, who take the first soundings and settle how the process below should work. What follows is the starting design, not a finished system.

How a practice gets on the Chart

Surface

It is offered.

At a gathering, a member makes a tide offering: a practice, a question, a structure or a resource that works in his group.

Next Step

It is captured.

We write down what it is, how it’s done, who offered it, the teachers it comes from, and the date.

Going Deeper

The giver reviews it.

Nothing is charted until the man who offered it has read the entry and approved how it’s described.

Documented

It is charted.

The entry goes into the Chart beside his name and the teachers it came from.

Committed

It is honored.

The new entry is named aloud at the next gathering.

What the Chart covers

From the surface down: finding men in your community, hosting a first meeting, holding a retreat, and sitting with a man in his darkest hour.

What members can do with it

Anything on the Chart is a tide resource. Members can use it, adapt it, and pass it on inside the fellowship, always naming the man it came from. What a member keeps in his vault never goes on the Chart, and nobody is asked twice.

The founding table takes the first soundings.
