The Podcast

The questions men who lead men rarely get asked.

The Fathom House Podcast is a weekly conversation with a man who leads a men’s group: where he comes from, what the work has cost him, and what he would hand to the next man.

Where it stands today

No episodes have been released yet. The first conversations are being arranged now. When they are out, they will be listed here and wherever you listen to podcasts.

What you’ll hear

One leader, one conversation.

About forty-five minutes between Dan Russell, the founder of Fathom House, and a man who leads a men’s group: a coach, a therapist, a ceremony leader, a minister, a man who built a circle and kept it strong.

His teachers first.

Every conversation opens the way a gathering does. He names his teachers and the traditions he comes from.

The harder questions.

Less about how to run a call. More about what the work gives him and what it costs, the man he lost, the night the room turned, and what he no longer believes.

Something for the next man.

What he would tell a man who is about to start his first group.

And what stays in his vault.

One thing he keeps for himself, named but not opened.

Some of the questions

01

What do you do with the man you don’t like?

02

What does charging a man change about caring for him?

03

What would happen to your group if you died tomorrow?

04

What did your teacher get wrong, and have you told him?

05

What do you no longer believe about this work that you used to teach?

06

What has leading men cost you?

Each guest gets the questions that fit him, a week ahead.

What you won’t hear

Anything from inside a gathering.

What is said at the House’s table stays there. The podcast is recorded separately, in public, on purpose.

The names of the men they lead.

Guests change any detail that could identify a man in their group.

A method to buy.

Guests come from different traditions, and they disagree. Nobody here will tell you how to run your group.

Clinical advice.

These are conversations about leading groups. If you or a man you know is in crisis in the U.S., call or text 988.

A guest called a member when he isn’t one.

Some guests will be members of the House and some won’t. We only name a man as a member if he is one and has agreed to it.

Who it’s for

Men who lead men’s groups, and men who are thinking about starting one. If you haven’t started a group yet, this is the part of the House that is open to you today.

Be a guest

If you lead a men’s group and have something to say about the craft, write with a line or two about your group.

No man leads alone.
